Some Time in Da Nort Woods
Been camping and eating in a lot in an effort to eat healthy and spend less. However, we went north in the good state of Wisconsin and hit Osseo. The fact that there is a familial cabin there is besides the point. What isn't besides the point is the Dark Wood Cukes or the great fish sandwich I ordered from the Northwoods Brewpub. Let's talk about it for a minute.
When we got to the pub, they were celebrating 21 years at that location and with that came a ticket for free beer. Of course we had to stay for that, each of us getting the Wall IPA. I would describe it as a light, not overly hoppy beer. Round 2 was a seasonal Blueberry Wheat. Let me tell you, I don't like wheat beers too much, but I love blueberry, and this did not taste anything like your typical wheat beer. We later took a growler of it back to the cabin.
Not pictured are these wonderful Dark Wood Cukes. They were entire spears that were lightly battered and deep fried. Pretty sure it was 5 for $5 or 10 for $7 because we got 10. Not even mad or sad about it.
Enter our sandwiches (which we got to go). Mike got the Reuben with chips and I got the fish sandwich with fries because always go big or go home. Also fries. So this fish filet was lightly breaded and on cheese encrusted French bread, which is definitely not enough cheese because I had to add a slice of cheddar onto this bad boy. Tomato and lettuce, yada yada. They put the tartar sauce on the side, which I am eternally grateful for, since the best dipping sauce for fries is [homemade] tartar sauce. Best enjoyed next to a camp fire.
Danny had a great time, too.
