Happy Birthday to Me
If you haven't been to Sobie's in Oconomowoc, I do recommend that you go there at least once. For brunch, lunch, or dinner, it doesn't really matter, because everything there is great and you are bound to find something you like. They are a farm to table concept and make everything from scratch - the salad dressing, broasted chicken batter, and the hollandaise sauce, to name a few. Not to mention that Mike and Lydia are the bees knees.
So it was my birthday, celebrating the big 3-3. Also, as a side note, gear up for next year's birthday because the theme is Y2K-2020 edition. We went to Sobie's for brunch and was very happy with everything. I ordered the special that day, which was the Smoked Salmon Benedict. Smoked salmon and benedicts are pretty much two of my favorite foods so this was a no brainer. They made me a large mimosa with grapefruit juice to go along with it. The American fries were crispy and hot and perfect. The hollandaise wasn't overpowering and they put just the right amount over the eggs, which were precisely poached with just the right amount of runny yolk to be soaked up by my English muffin.
The best part was yet to come. When told about dessert, the blueberry cheese cake called my name. This is what I received:
It was awesome - fresh blueberries baked right into the cheesecake. My other two favorite things (blueberries and cheesecake, in case you were wondering).
All in all, it was a pretty solid weekend, enjoyed with friends and great food.
