Backstreet's Back, Alright!
I am going to preface this by saying that the Backstreet Boys are pretty much my favorite band and there is nothing that was going to stop me from attending the concert they had last week in Milwaukee. I asked for two tickets to the show for Christmas and mom delivered.
Despite a friend cancelling and not being able to attend almost last minute, I was able to bring another boy band-loving friend along.
Before heading to the concert, we decided to grab dinner right down in Old World Third, pretty much right next to the Fiserv. PS - the Fiserv is an awesome venue and super nice on the inside. I just kind of wish it wasn't so ugly on the outside.
But my critique of the Fiserv and Backstreet Boys concert is not why we have gathered here today. Instead, I am here to tell you about the awesome tequila drink I had and the Impossible (read: Beyond Meat) burger that I had dressed as the Caprese Burger at Oak Barrel Public House.
While I was waiting for my friend to drive down and find parking, I ordered the Tequila Rick. I was sold at cucumber chili tequila. It wasn't sweet and it wasn't too spicy - it was just right. After she arrived, we ordered our food. She got the mac and cheese and I ordered the Impossible burger as the Caprese burger (let's be real, who doesn't like fresh basil?). They were out of the Impossible and offered the Beyond Meat alternative, which I was actually quite happy about, as I prefer Beyond to Impossible. Not sure what it is, I just think the Impossible has the consistency of cardboard. However, this will not stop me from trying the Impossible Whopper in the future.
The bier cheese mac and cheese was on point. Perfectly sauced, perfectly bread crumbed. My burger was good, but not as good as I was expecting. The fries were the best part. Unfortunately, I ate them too fast because I love fries. They were hot and the right amount of crispy. I was just meh about the burger, and I'm pretty sure it's because I couldn't taste the basil.
The rest of the menu looks good though, and I'd like to stop back again for brunch and the thing I almost ordered for dinner - S'mores Pudding.
